He died on April 1, 1879 and is buried in Rest Haven Cemetery in Monroe, Georgia The collection consists of a letter written by Davis to his brother Alanson Davis in Putney, Vermont. Davis writes that his law business has been declining ever since he returned to Georgia in 1834. He blames the decline on lack of legal business throughout the country. He says that property is very high and quotes prices for food, carriages and slaves. Davis is considering moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, because he thinks the new railroad from Charleston, South Carolina will greatly increase the population there. His wife and her mother are willing to move, he has sold his farming interests, and he will only have to sell the house and lots he owns in town. Cite as: Charles D. She and her mother traveled to the camp of the Lincoln Cavalry (Camp Meigs) in Washington, DC to care for him, and many details of the camp and soldiers are given. Willie survived the illness but was killed on October 13, 1863. The third diary, 1891-1898, contains Annie's reminiscences of past Christmas seasons. A fourth diary, 1886-1915, was written by Annie's sister, Louise, and describes various family matters.
